Kathmandu, October 31 – The Election Commission of Nepal submitted its 19th annual report, highlighting key activities, achievements, and initiatives of the fiscal year 2081-82, to the President at a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, Sheetal Niwas, on Friday.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari formally presented the report to President Ram Chandra Poudel.
On the occasion, President Poudel praised the Commission’s work during the past fiscal year and expressed his appreciation for their efforts. He also conveyed confidence that the upcoming House of Representatives elections, scheduled for February 21, 2082, will be conducted successfully.
While handing over the report, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari highlighted several key accomplishments of the Commission, including voter registration and updates, by-elections for 44 local-level vacant positions, voter education and training programs, and the registration and updating of political parties.
He further noted that the Commission’s Fourth Five-Year Strategic Plan, aimed at legal, institutional, and systemic reforms, has been approved and is being implemented. Bhandari expressed confidence that the Commission is well-prepared to carry out the House of Representatives elections, 2082, and emphasized the importance of support from political parties and other stakeholders.
According to the Commission’s Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the event was attended by Election Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shamsher Jabra, Commission Secretary Mahadev Pantha, presidential advisors, and Secretary of the President’s Office Dr. Deepak Kafle.
