Demarcation and mapping of Fewatal has been completed

Kaski, February 23 As the fewatal in Pokhara is getting narrower, the size and type is rapidly declining due to the soil flowing from the mouth of the river every year along with the human encroachment. The committee formed by the government for the conservation of the lake has completed the work of demarcation and mapping.


Punya Poudel, chairperson of the committee for demarcation, demarcation and mapping of four forts in Fewatal, said that the demarcation and mapping work of Fewatal has been completed. He informed that the work was completed within the first three months. According to him, 12 old reports have been made on the basis of old people's statements, river size, land survey and others. He said that they did not want to make public the demarcation area of ​​the lake right now until the government's decision.


Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Man Bahadur GC said that the soil coming into the fewatal should be stopped by managing the road. He complained that the state and federal governments have not been able to take appropriate steps to protect the fewatal. Mayor GC warned that the metropolis would soon demolish the physical infrastructure built by violating the standards of the fewatal and would also give appropriate compensation if anyone has red parts under the waters of the fewatal.


Chief Surveyor of the Survey Office, Kaski, Khim Lal Gautam said that they have demarcated and mapped the fewatal in collaboration with the committee. . He said, "We are conducting a field survey based on historical facts, surveys and statements of elders." He informed that they have also studied and observed the basis of previous studies on Fewatal.


Former Chairman of Pokhara Valley Urban Development Committee Bishwaprakash Lamichhane informed that 9,955 ropanis of land was covered with water. Former Chairman Lamichhane said that it was found that some individuals had registered in the field in 2034/035 BS without going to the field. He said that out of 10,063 ropanis of land, 2,101 ropanis of land was found to be in dispute. He informed that they have been giving suggestions saying that the state should pay attention as 1692 ropanis of land is under water.


The Supreme Court had issued a directive order to all the three levels of government to resolve the issue within six months. The government has started the work by forming a demarcation and mapping committee under the coordination of Punya Prasad Poudel.
