Kathmandu, February 23: Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit India this year. According to Indian media, Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend the BRICS summit in India. The online edition of the Indian newspaper Times of India has mentioned that his visit will depend on the condition of Kovid 19.

Relations between the two countries had been strained for 11 months due to border tensions. Dozens of soldiers from both sides were killed in clashes between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galvan Valley last June. India inaugurated the BRICS Secretariat last year. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said it was keen to strengthen ties with India and other BRICS members in various fields.

Asked if the border dispute would affect the BRICS summit, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said India supported India's hosting of the BRICS summit. He said China would always look forward to "economic, political and humanitarian" cooperation and coordination with BRICS member states.
