Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced that he will not immediately step down from his position. Appearing publicly for the first time after the “Gen Z movement,” he addressed the party’s Central Committee in a written statement, declaring that he will formally hand over the party leadership during the party’s 15th General Convention.
He remarked that “there is never just one daughter in a household,” implying that leadership must eventually change hands, and stated that someone other than himself will become party president after the 15th General Convention.
Deuba’s statement regarding the General Convention:
"Questions have been raised about the party’s internal life, the upcoming 15th General Convention, and leadership transition. I would like to tell my colleagues that just as a household never has only one daughter forever, a party also cannot have the same president forever. As for me, I have already made it clear—both according to our constitutional provisions and my personal political intent—that I will formally hand over the party leadership during the 15th General Convention. After that convention, someone other than will become the party president. There is no
