Madhesh Pradesh Government's newly appointed Chief Minister Sonald takes oath

Jitendra Prasad Sonal Sworn In as Chief Minister of Madhesh Province

Janakpurdham, Asoj 30 — Jitendra Prasad Sonal, leader of the Democratic Socialist Party (LSP) Nepal and a member of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, has officially taken the oath of office and secrecy as the new Chief Minister of Madhesh Province.

The swearing-in ceremony was held today at the Office of the Provincial Chief in Janakpurdham, where Sonal took the oath in Bhojpuri, one of the widely spoken languages in the region. The oath was administered by Provincial Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari.

Sonal’s appointment was made on Wednesday evening in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. He was appointed Chief Minister with the backing of 56 members of the Provincial Assembly representing five different political parties.

With the new appointment, the Madhesh Province sees a shift in leadership amid ongoing political developments at the provincial and national levels.
