Initially, the second leg was planned to be held in Nepal at Dasarath Stadium, but the venue was deemed ineligible for international matches by the AFC. As a result, Nepal will again play on Vietnam’s home ground.

Nepal is in Group F and has suffered defeats in all three of its previous matches, including losses to Laos (2–1) and Malaysia (2–0). Defender Rohit Chand will mark a milestone by playing his 100th international match, becoming the second Nepali player to reach this landmark after former captain Kiran Kumar Limbu.

Striker Anjan Bista has the chance to become Nepal’s all-time top scorer with 14 goals if he scores in this match, surpassing the joint record of 13 goals held by Hari Khadka and Nirajan Rayamajhi.

Nepal coach Matt Ross emphasized that the team is aiming for a competitive performance and will fight for all three points despite the first-leg loss.

Currently, Vietnam sits in second place with six points, Malaysia leads with nine points, and Laos is third with three points. Only the top team from the group will qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
